Himachal Pradesh Extends Corona Curfew Till May 31

Mumbai: Himachal Pradesh government has extended the ongoing ‘corona curfew’ in the state till May 31 to break the COVID-19 chain transmission in the state.

The decision to extend the restrictions was taken in a state cabinet meeting chaired by the CM on May 24. The corona curfew was supposed to end on May 26.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh said that COVID19 restrictions have helped reduce infection, but it was decided to increase the corona curfew to further reduce the number of active cases.

“COVID19 situation in the state was reviewed in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Thus, to break the virus chain, the cabinet decided to pursue the Corona curfew with the same ban by May 31, 2021, across the state,” the government release said.

Himachal Pradesh ‘corona curfew’ guidelines

  1. All the government and private offices/establishments would remain closed.
  2. All essential services such as health, electricity, telecommunication, water supply, sanitation etc. would remain open.
  3. The Himachal Pradesh government has permitted work at civil work sites, horticultural/agricultural and other project sites.
  4. Educational institutions would remain closed till May 31.
  5. All government and private transport would ply at 50 per cent of occupancy and inter-state transport would continue.
  6. Industrial establishments would work as per the guidelines issued by the state administration.

The Himachal Pradesh government had also cancelled the 10th class Himachal Pradesh School Education Board examinations. All the students will be promoted to class XII as per the norms suggested by CBSE for their students for the 10th-grade examination.

Himachal Pradesh registered 1,949 new COVID-19 cases on May 24, taking the state’s infection tally to 1,80,98. With 61 more persons succumbing to the deadly contagious virus, the death toll increased to 2,813.
