Humbly Accept Ayodhya Verdict, Won’t File Any Review Petition: UP Sunni Central Waqf Board

Mumbai: After Supreme Court delivered its verdict over Ayodhya’s case, UP Sunni Central Waqf Board welcomed the decisions and made it clear that it will not go for any review or file any curative petition against the same.

“We welcome and humbly accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. I, as the chairman of the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, want to clarify that the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board (UPSCWB) does not seek any review of of the apex court’s order or file any curative petition, hence any statement in this regard by any individual, lawyer or organization which mentions that UP Sunni Central Waqf Board will go in for a review is not our line,” said Zufar Faruqi, Chairman, UPSCWB.

Faruqi said, “We are grateful to the Supreme Court for viewing the observation of one of the judges of the Allahabad High Court (2010) as ‘wrong’ which weakened the provisions of the Worship Act 1991”.

A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Gogoi and headed by Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazer passed an order in a group of petitions against an order of the Allahabad High Court, which set out the parties. A decade-long legal dispute was faced by the right-wing Hindu Mahasabha, a sect of the Hindu monks Nirmohi Akhara and the Muslim Waqf Board, on 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya.
