Mumbai: A woman was stabbed multiple times by a man in Hyderabad after she rejected his proposal. The accused, Girish, later attempted to die by suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach.
The condition of the woman, who is currently under treatment, was said to be out of danger.
According to the police, the victim Chamanthi (22) is a vendor in a supermarket and had befriended Girish (24), a private employee of Jawaharnagar. They had exchanged phone numbers and were in touch over the phone for a few days until he proposed to her recently.
“But he declined the offer. He started to follow and pressurize her. She also informed her parents about the harassment. They intervened and warned him to mend his behaviour,” said K.Ravi Kumar, Inspector (Bowenpally).

At around 1.30 pm on Wednesday, when the woman was busy with her household chores, he approached her with a knife from behind and after abusing her, stabbed her several times in the stomach. He threatened the family members present on the spot. She fell on the floor, following which Girish attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach.
The victim was taken to a private hospital in Bowenpally, while Girish is undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital. Bowenpally police have registered a case of an attempt to murder and started an investigation. Police said that Girish will be taken into custody after he recovers.
