I Always Stayed Away From Birthdays, But It Was An Emotional Day Yesterday: PM

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said it was an unforgettable and emotional moment for him as over 2.50 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the country on his 71st birthday.

“I always stayed away from birthdays, but it was an emotional day yesterday.” “With the efforts of all of you (healthcare workers), it became a very special day for me,” he further said.

Modi said he appreciates all doctors, medical staff, and people in administration in the country for this effort. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated India clinched, “World’s Fastest Vaccine Drive” title by jabbing 466 doses per second on Friday. He added that 28,000 vaccine doses were administered every minute yesterday.

With this, India has surpassed China’s highest record of vaccinating 247 million people in a day. Bihar gave the highest dose of 29.38 lakh COVID-19 vaccines in the country yesterday.
