I Don’t Swim In India As One Might Click From Anywhere: Sonakshi

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha, who made her debut with Dabangg and has been in the industry for over a decade, has always been open about her fitness journey and body image struggles. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, she revealed her discomfort with wearing swimwear in India and shared insights into her evolving relationship with fitness.

Concerns Over Wearing Swimwear in India

When asked if she has ever felt conscious in swimwear, Sonakshi candidly admitted, “Hamesha hua (Always). Especially while growing up. I don’t swim in Bombay, I don’t swim in this country because I don’t know who might take my photo from where. I don’t want that to be splashed all over the internet. I swim when I travel, I dive.”

Her comments highlight the challenges of maintaining privacy as a public figure in the digital age, where unsolicited photographs often make their way online.

Her Fitness Journey

Reflecting on her fitness journey, Sonakshi shared how she initially struggled with exercise and realized early on that she needed a balanced approach. “When I was 18 and in college, I started going to the gym for the first time. I tried running on the treadmill, and after 30 seconds, I was done! That’s when I realized I was too young for this. I couldn’t be doing this to myself at 18. That is when my journey began.”

Over the years, she has continued to work on her fitness while promoting a healthier and more sustainable approach to wellness.

Personal Life and Professional Success

Sonakshi made her relationship with actor Zaheer Iqbal official last year, marrying him in June after dating for seven years. The couple tied the knot on June 23—the same date they started their relationship.

On the professional front, Sonakshi received widespread acclaim for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, which premiered on Netflix last year. The show’s success has led to the announcement of a second season, which is currently in development.

With her candid revelations, Sonakshi continues to inspire fans by advocating for body positivity, self-confidence, and the importance of mental well-being in the entertainment industry.
