I Needed To Step Up, Take Responsibility: Rashid On Scoring 40(21) vs CSK

Mumbai: GT stand-in captain Rashid Khan said he wanted two batters to score big in their chase of CSK’s 170-run target and he needed to step up and take the responsibility after they were reduced to 87/5 after 13 overs.

David Miller’s unbeaten half-century and Rashid Khan’s quick innings helped Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in their IPL 2022 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Sunday. Also Read: Did Well In 1st 6 Overs, But Failed To Execute Plans In Last 5 vs GT: Ravindra Jadeja

“It’s an amazing feeling in the IPL, it’s like a dream come true to lead a team, and it’s something special to deliver. Just wanted to deepen the game. We scored 90 runs in the last 7 overs. We were able to chase, and that was the plan. We were trying to take the game as deep as possible. I haven’t batted in the first 5 games, that was the discussion, so I wanted to take the responsibility,” said Rashid Khan in a post-match presentation.

“We wanted two batters to score big, I just had a discussion with Miller and we tried to strike the ball hard. I needed to step up and take the responsibility, just wanted to back myself and that was the plan,” he added.

David Miller’s sensational knock of 94* was in line with stand-in captain Rashid Khan’s quick knock of 40 off 21 balls as Gujarat chased down the target of 0f 170 with a ball to spare.

This is Gujarat Titans’ fifth win in six matches, while Chennai Super Kings’ fifth loss in six matches.

GT currently leads the Indian Premier League 2022 table with 10 points while CSK is just above the winners Mumbai Indians.
