“I Offered To Quit As CM Party Rejected,” Mamata Banerjee

Mumbai: After facing defeat from BJP led by PM Narendra Modi Trinamool Congress held an emergency meeting at party chief Mamata Banerjee’s house.

BJP won four of the eight assembly by-elections in West Bengal, while TMC won three. By winning 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal, the BJP shocked the Mamta-led TMC.

“At TMC’s internal meeting, I offered to quit as CM but party rejected; maybe I will continue,” Mamata said.

In the meeting, Mamta Banerjee said, “For the last five months we have not been able to work due to such long elections. Despite all the barriers, the vote share increased.”

Mamta Banerjee said, “There is nothing inappropriate in love and war.”

The point of concern for Mamata Banerjee is that BJP managed to get 40.5 percent votes in the polls, more than 37 percent of the TMC.

Mamata Banerjee said, “Central forces have worked against us. The BJP has won a communal agenda and the Election Commission [EC] has fully worked on her behalf.”

Commenting on the BJP, Mamata Banerjee said, “I am surprised that she did not give all the 23 seats [the BJP claimed as much]. [Modi] has succeeded, but we do not accept their views. ” Accept communal politics. Such split between Hindus and Muslims will not be entertained. The amount used in the election is a big scam.”

Mamata Banerjee criticized the working of the EC as well and said, “The EC was flooded with complaints but no justice was delivered. Not even one member of EC raised his/her voice in protest.”

The saffron party gave TMC a share of its money, which is 40.25 percent of the vote count as compared to the 43.28 percent TMC counting so far.
