I Will Visit J&K If Requirement Arises: CJI Ranjan Gogoi

Mumbai: Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said on Sunday that he would make a personal visit to Jammu and Kashmir if needed.

In a News18 report, he said he wanted to see if there were real difficulties in contacting the courts in lawsuits.

Gogoi said while dealing with a group of petitions against the restrictions imposed in the Valley Post repeal of Article 370 in the Supreme Court, “I may visit Jammu and Kashmir if the need arises.”

Meanwhile, the apex court has asked the Center to ensure that normal life is restored in Jammu and Kashmir keeping national security and security in mind. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, “We do everything possible to ensure Jammu and Kashmir gets a normal life.”

“Restoration will be on a selective basis keeping in mind national interests,” the court told the Centre.

In addition, a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and SA Bobde and SA Nazar also held that the so-called bandh is in the valley itself, then it can be disposed of by the Jammu and Kasmir High Courts.
