ICC Test Team Rankings: Pakistan Jumps To Number 5 After 95-Run Win Over South Africa

Mumbai: With a 95-run win over South Africa, Pakistan climbed to fifth place in the latest ICC Test team rankings.

Pakistan has 90 points, while South Africa are in sixth place with 89 points. Mohammad Rizwan once again showed why he is given high status as he hit a brilliant century in the second essay and inspired Pakistan to victory.

Kane Williamson-led New Zealand topped the table with 118.44 points and India are close to 117–65 points. Australia, which has recently lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to India, is in third place with 113 points, while 2019 World Cup champion England is in fourth place.

The much-awaited ICC World Test Championship will be played in England later this year and the final race is heating up as New Zealand manages to seal their berth for the summit.

To qualify for India, they would have to beat England 2–0, 2–1, 3–0, 3–1 or 4–0 in the current series.

And to make it through England, they would have to beat India 3–0, 3–1 or 4–0 in the current series.

And for Australia – who wanted to make it to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy – they would have to rely on the results of the India-England series.

For Australia to qualify, one of the three scenarios has to play out – India beat England 1-0, England beat India 1-0, 2-0, or 2-1, or India and England draw the ongoing series either 0-0, 1-1, or 2-2.
