Identify & Deport Illegal Migrants: Amit Shah Tells Delhi Police

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered a crackdown on networks assisting Bangladeshi and Rohingya intruders in illegally entering India, obtaining documents, and settling in the country. Shah’s directive came during a high-level law and order meeting attended by newly elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Commissioner of Police Sanjay Arora, and senior officials.

Focus on National Security

During the meeting, Shah emphasized that the issue of illegal intruders is directly linked to national security and must be dealt with strictly. He instructed authorities to identify and deport such individuals while dismantling the entire support network that facilitates their illegal stay.

“Take strict action against the entire network that helps Bangladeshi and Rohingya intruders enter the country, get their documents made, and facilitate their stay here. The issue of illegal intruders is also related to national security, and it should be dealt with strictly,” the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated, quoting Shah.

This meeting marked the first in a decade attended by a sitting Delhi Chief Minister. It was convened just days after Rekha Gupta, the BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, took oath as Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister on February 20.

Strengthening Delhi’s Law and Order

Shah highlighted that the BJP-led “double-engine government” would accelerate efforts for a developed and secure Delhi, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. He also directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to take stringent action against underperforming police stations and sub-divisions.

“It should be the priority of Delhi Police to eliminate interstate gangs in Delhi with a ruthless approach,” Shah asserted.

He further instructed law enforcement to adopt a top-down and bottom-up strategy in narcotics-related cases to dismantle entire drug networks. Additionally, Shah announced that Delhi Police will no longer require permission for construction-related matters in the city, ensuring smoother governance and law enforcement.

Expedited Legal Proceedings for 2020 Delhi Riots Cases

In a bid to expedite pending cases related to the 2020 Delhi riots, Shah instructed the Delhi government to appoint special prosecutors. This measure aims to ensure the swift disposal of cases and reinforce justice.

The meeting underscored the Home Ministry’s commitment to tackling illegal immigration, strengthening Delhi’s security framework, and enhancing governance efficiency. The directives set forth by Shah signal a rigorous approach to law enforcement and national security in the national capital.
