If Genuinely Concerned About Farmers, Do Not Share Dais With MoS Ajay Mishra: Priyanka Gandhi Urges PM Modi

Ashish, son of Ajay Mishra, is among the 13 arrested in connection with the deaths in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3

Mumbai: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share the stage with MoS Home Ajay Mishra, whose son is accused of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

“If he (Modi) is genuinely concerned about farmers, he should not share the dais with MoS Home Ajay Mishra whose son is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case,” she said in Lucknow.

She demanded the dismissal of MoS Mishra and also asked PM Modi not to attend the DGP and IG conference scheduled to be held from November 20-22 in Lucknow.

“I have written to PM Modi that person who mowed down farmers (in Lakhimpur) is the son of MoS Home, and due to political pressure UP govt had tried suppressing justice…The family wants justice, and if he (MoS) continues, justice can’t be served,” said Priyanka Gandhi.

Eight people, including farmers, were killed in the violence that occurred in Lakhimpur on October 3. Ashish, son of Ajay Mishra, is among the 13 arrested in connection with the deaths. All the victims were mowed down by a convoy of three vehicles, including a Mahindra Thar SUV owned by Ajay Mishra.

She added, “PM Modi should not attend the DGP and IG conference in Lucknow. I have written to him on the same.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will chair ‘All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police – 2022’.

In the three-day conference, various sessions will be held to discuss on modernisation of police terrorism and internal security.

Gandhi, in her letter, also urged PM Modi to withdraw cases against farmers and give compensation to those who are deceased.

“I have also urged PM Modi to withdraw cases against farmers across the country and give compensation to the kin of deceased farmers,” requested Priyanka.
