I’m Pained That We Failed To Explain Benefits Of 3 Farm Law To Farmers: Agriculture Minister NS Tomar

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Central government will repeal the three contentious farm laws

Mumbai: Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday shared displeasure that the government failed to explain the benefits of the three-farm law to farmers and was forced to withdraw the law.

“PM had brought the 3 Bills that were passed by the Parliament. They would’ve benefitted farmers, behind it was PM’s clear intentions to bring revolutionary changes in the lives of farmers. He added, “PM had tried to bring changes in agriculture with these reforms. But due to some situations, some farmers objected. When we took the path of discussions & tried to explain to them, we couldn’t succeed. So on Prakash Parv PM decided to repeal farm laws. Prime Minister Modi choose Prakash Parv also known as Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first guru of Sikhism, to make the announcement that the three contentious farm laws will be withdrawn.

Lauding Prime Minister Modi’s efforts & commitment towards farmers and agriculture, Tomar said that since 2014, Mosi has started many schemes benefitting agriculture. Also Read: Protest Won’t Be Withdrawn Immediately, Will Wait Till Parliament Repeals Farm Laws: Tikait

“Nation is witness to the fact that ever since PM Modi took the reins of the govt in his hands in 2014, the commitment of his govt has been for farmers & agriculture. As a result, you would’ve seen that in last 7 years many new schemes benefitting agriculture were started,” said Agriculture Minister.

Tomar further informed that a committee will be formed to discuss & resolve other farmers issues along with MSP.

The Minister said, “He has also said that a committee will be formed on Zero Budget Farming, MSP, crop diversification issues. The committee will have centres, State Govts, farmers, scientists, economists. It will submit a report over making MSP effective & transparent and other issues.”
