Income Tax Department Raids Dainik Bhaskar’s Premises At Multiple Locations: Reports

Mumbai: The Income Tax Department carried out raids against media group Dainik Bhaskar in several locations on Thursday over alleged tax evasion, reports said.

The raids were conducted at promoters’ houses in Bhopal and company offices in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and other cities.

I-T department officials were seen entering the premises of the group at Bhopal, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and a few other places to conduct searches. The residences of the promoters of the group are also being searched.

The I-T department has not officially commented on the raids and its policy-making body, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), is also silent as of now. However, official sources said that the raids were carried out targeting the promoters of the Hindi media group.

Raids were also being conducted on the Bharat Samachar News channel, its promoters and its editor-in-chief. Sources said offices and residences of the promoters were being searched.
