IND vs AUS: Host All Out On Day 1 Of An MCG Boxing Day Test, Bumrah And Ashwin Steal Show

Mumbai: It was Indian bowlers who clinched the show on the first day of the Boxing Day Test Match against Australia. Meanwhile on day 1 stumps India’s score read 36/1 with Gill batting on 28 and Cheteshwar Pujara giving him company on 7. The visitor’s trail by 159 runs with nine wickets in the bag. 

For Australia, it was Mitchell Starc who took the lone wicket to end the day with figures of 1/14 from four overs. 

It was Indian bowlers who showed their class performance as they dismissed Australia for 195.  Tim Paine might have thought of winning the toss in the first MCG and batting to bring the hosts a good score. But led by Jasprit Bumrah (4/56), the Indians made short work of the Australian batting as they finished their first essay in 195.

While Bumrah added four, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin once again to his elements as he took three wickets, debutante Mohammad Siraj got his first 2 test cricket wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket.
