India Announce Their Squad For T20I Series Against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli And Rishab Pant Rested

Mumbai: India has announced their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, with Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant being rested for the series. Also Read: Rohit Sharma Named Team India’s New Full-Time Test Captain

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has been recalled to the squad, while Ravindra Jadeja also makes a return after recovering from an injury.

Notably, the All India Senior-Selection Committee on Saturday announced that batter Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will not be included in Team India’s squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Also Read: India Announce Their Squad For Test Series Against Sri Lanka; Pujara, Rahane Dropped

“Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the final T20I against West Indies on the advice of our medical staff to give them more rest. They have also been rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka,” But they will play the Test series, Chetan Sharma, chairman of the All India Senior Selection Committee, said during the virtual press conference.

“Shardul Thakur has been rested for both the formats against Sri Lanka but will be available for the third T20I against West Indies tomorrow,” he added.

Earlier this week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a new schedule for India’s upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. The first match will be played on February 24 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The second and third T20 matches will be held in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.

Following the T20I series, the teams will play two Tests, which form a part of the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
