India Carried Out Operation Sindoor Against Pakistan In Report To Pahalgam Terror Attack

Mumbai: India conducted precision strikes on nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday, in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.

Codenamed Operation Sindoor, the action targeted sites identified as launch pads for cross-border attacks, including areas in Muridke and Bahawalpur in Pakistan’s Punjab province, and KotliMuzaffarabad in PoK. The operation, described as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” aimed to dismantle key terror facilities without targeting any Pakistani military installations.

In a statement released at 1:44 a.m., the Ministry of Defense said, “Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and methods of execution.”

The Indian Army echoed this sentiment, posting on social media around 1:45 a.m.,#PahalgamTerrorAttack Justice is Served. Jai Hind!”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh followed with a message at 2:46 a.m., declaring, “Bharat Mata ki Jai (Long live Mother India).”

Pakistan, however, condemned the strikes, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calling them a “cowardly attack on five places”and promising a “befitting reply” at a time and place of its choosing. The Pakistani foreign ministry described the strikes as an “unprovoked and blatant act of war” and accused the Indian Air Force of violating Pakistan’s sovereignty by using standoff weapons while remaining within Indian airspace.

Muridke, near Lahore, is known as the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), while Bahawalpur is a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Kotli and Muzaffarabad in PoK have long hosted training camps for both groups, according to sources familiar with the region.

The operation’s name, “Sindoor,” holds symbolic significance, referencing the red vermillion worn by married Hindu women, reflecting the deep personal losses suffered in the Pahalgam attack, where several husbands were killed in front of their wives. Among the victims was an Indian Navy officer who had just begun his married life.

With this operation, India has sent a strong message that it will hold those responsible for terror attacks accountable, reinforcing its commitment to national security.
