India Conducts Over 8.48 Lakh COVID-19 Tests In Last 24 Hours: MoHFW

Mumbai: India has touched a new milestone with the most COVID-19 tests in a single day so far, a record 8,48,728 trials were conducted in the last 24 hours, cumulative tests taking up to 2,76,94,416, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised that a country needs 140 tests per million population.

While the national average is 603 trials/day / million population, with the effective efforts of the Center and effective implementation by the States / UTs, 34 of them have crossed this figure.

The government sector has 1,451 laboratories with 958 and 493 private laboratories.

“There are 749 real-time RT PCR-based testing laboratories, including 447 government and 302 private laboratories. A total of 586 trust-based test laboratories are functioning in the country, including 478 government and 108 private laboratories. There are 116 million RNA-based testing laboratories. 33 Government Countries including laboratories and 83 private laboratories, ”the ministry said.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there were 64,553 new coronavirus viruses and 1,007 deaths in India in the last 24 hours.

The country’s coronavirus count is 24,61,191 including 6,61,595 active cases, 17,51,556 discharged / migrated and 48,040 deaths.
