India Has About 7.1 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Per Lakh Population: Health Ministry

Mumbai: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Monday said that there are 7.1 COVID-19 positive cases per lakh population in India, which is about 60 cases per lakh population.

The ministry said, “In terms of confirmed cases per lakh population, India has so far had 7.1 cases per one lakh population, which is around 60 cases per lakh population across the world. Aggressive and early measures have shown encouraging results.”

To date, there are approximately 45,25,497 COVID-19 confirmed cases worldwide, with approximately 60 cases per 60 population. India has reported at least 96,169 confirmed cases with 3,029 deaths as of May 18.

“There are currently 56,316 active cases in India. So far, a total of 36,824 people have recovered from COVID-19. In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,715 patients have been cured. We currently have a recovery rate of 38.29 per cent,” the ministry added.
