India Lost To The Defending Champion Uzbekistan In The AFC U-23 Championship

Mumbai: The defending champions Uzbekistan successfully defeated India, by 3-0 at the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Islomjon Kobilov captain of the home team Uzbekistan put the team in front via the first-half penalty, before second-half substitute Bobir Abdixolikov netted twice in the last ten minutes to take away the game from the Blue Tigers on Friday.

Uzbekistan pressed high up on the pitch after the initial exchanges and they were able to get a good chance the half-hour mark Alijonov Ilkhomjon was played.

Uzbekistan laid the proverbial siege on the Indian third ahead of the half time break, but the visiting team’s defence held on with Anwar Ali making some brave interceptions deep inside the penalty area.

Their efforts finally paid off in injury time of the first half when Uzbekistan was awarded a penalty.

And, Captain Kobilov made no mistake as he slotted it into the bottom corner to put the home side in the lead.
The home side came out with more attacking intent in the second half.

Abdixolikov finally after a while made the score 3-0 winning the side, ending Indian fans hope.
India will play their final qualifier against Tajikistan on March, 24.
