Mumbai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a landmark decision to schedule India-Pakistan matches at neutral venues for ICC events hosted in India or Pakistan during the current rights cycle (2024-2027).

This decision aims to navigate the challenges surrounding bilateral cricket ties between the two nations.

Under the new arrangement, matches between the arch-rivals will take place at neutral venues proposed by the tournament hosts.

This applies to the following tournaments:

• ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan)

• ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India)

In a related announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, where similar neutral venue arrangements will also be in place.

Looking beyond 2027, Cricket Australia has secured hosting rights for one of the senior ICC women’s tournaments during the 2029-2031 cycle, reaffirming its prominent role in global cricket.

The ICC confirmed that the match schedule for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will be unveiled in the coming days, generating excitement among fans and stakeholders.

This decision underscores the ICC’s commitment to promoting cricket on a global scale while addressing sensitivities surrounding India-Pakistan cricketing relations.
