India Records 1.68 Lakh New COVID-19 Cases, 6.4% Lower Than Yesterday

Mumbai: India has reported 1,68,063 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 6.4% lower than yesterday. The country also recorded 277 deaths, taking the death toll to 4,84,213.

Active cases rose to 8,21,446, the highest in 208 days, while the death toll rose to 4,84,213 with 277 fresh deaths, data updated at 8 am.

So far, 1,711 people have been cured or migrated out of the total 4,461 cases of Omicron type.

Maharashtra recorded the highest number of cases at 1,247, followed by Rajasthan with 645, Delhi at 546, Karnataka at 479 and Kerala at 350.

Active cases comprise 2.29 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has come down to 96.36 per cent, the ministry said.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 97,827 cases in a span of 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 10.64 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 8.85 per cent.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,45,70,131, while the death rate was recorded at 1.35 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign have exceeded 152.89 crores.
