India Records 67,208 New COVID-19 Cases; Active Cases Lowest After 71 Days At 8.26 Lakh

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 2,84,91,670, while the case fatality rate rose to 1.29 per cent, the data said

Mumbai: According to the Union Health Ministry, India on Thursday reported 67,208 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases to 2,97,00,313.

Meanwhile, the number of active coronavirus cases in the country has fallen to 8,26,740, which is the lowest after 71 days

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 3,81,903 with 2,330 fresh deaths, data updated at 8 am.

Active cases declined to 8,26,740, comprising 2.78 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 95.93 per cent.

The COVID-19 caseload has registered a net decline of 38,692 cases in a 24-hour period.

19,31,249 tests were conducted on Wednesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far to 38,52,38,220 for detection of COVID-19 in the country.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.48 per cent. It has remained below 5 per cent for 10 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding the weekly positivity rate has gone up to 3.99 per cent.

For the 35th consecutive day, the number of people recovering from the new case is increasing continuously. The number of people cured of the disease rose to 2,84,91,670, while the case fatality rate rose to 1.29 per cent, the data said.
