India Reports 18,454 New COVID-19 Cases, 26.2% Higher Than Yesterday

Mumbai: India registered 18,454 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, 26.2% higher than yesterday. As many as 160 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total death count to 4,52,811.

Active cases comprise 1 per cent of the total infections, which currently stands at 0.52 per cent, the lowest since March 2020.

The death toll from COVID rose to 4,52,811 with 160 coronavirus patients losing their lives in the last 24 hours, said the data released by MoHFW.

13,23,702 tests were conducted on Wednesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far to 595,753,592 for detection of COVID-19 in the country.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.48 per cent. It is less than three per cent for the last 52 days.

The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.34 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for the last 118 days. According to official data, 75 per cent of India’s eligible population has been given at least the first dose of the COVID vaccine and about 31 per cent have received both doses of the vaccine.
