India Reports 2.38 Lakh New COVID-19 Cases, 20,000 Less Than Yesterday
Mumbai: India has reported 2,38,018 new COVID-19 cases and 310 deaths in the last 24 hours. This comes a day after the country reported 2,58,089 cases and 385 deaths.
A total of 8,891 cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in 29 states and union territories, an increase of 8.31 per cent from yesterday, data updated at 8 am showed.
The number of active COVID-19 cases has risen to 17,36,628.
According to the latest figures, 1,57,421 people have been cured since yesterday, taking the total number of people who have recovered to 3,53,94,882.
Active COVID cases account for 4.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has come down to 94.09 per cent, the ministry said.
The health ministry said that the daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.43 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 14.92 per cent.
According to MoHFW, 158.04 crore vaccine doses have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign against COVID.
Till 8 am, 16,49,143 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tests to over 70.54 crores.
