India Reports 26,964 New COVID-19 Cases, Daily Deaths Rise To 383

Maharashtra Reports Its First Death From Delta Plus COVID-19 Variant

Mumbai: India has reported 26,964 new COVID-19 cases and 383 deaths in the last 24 hours with Kerala reporting 15,768 cases and 214 deaths on Tuesday. The number of active cases in the country now stands at 3,01,989, which is the lowest in 186 days.

According to the ministry, active cases currently account for 0.90 per cent of the total cases, which is the lowest since March 2020. In the last 24 hours, 34,167 people have been cured of the COVID-19 infection, taking the number of people who have recovered. Cases up to 3.27,83,741.

According to the ministry, the recovery rate in the country is currently 97.77 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020. In the last 24 hours, 383 people have died in the country due to the Covid-19 infection. With the new deaths, the number of COVID-related deaths has risen to 4,45,768, the ministry said.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that the country has also significantly increased its COVID-19 testing capacity, with over 55,67,54,282 tests conducted so far, including 15,92,395 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, India has administered 82,65,15,754 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine under the ongoing nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
