India Reports 9,119 New COVID-19 Cases And 396 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Mumbai: India has reported 9,119 new COVID-19 cases and 396 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The death toll climbed to 4,66,980 with 396 fresh fatalities, including 308 from Kerala, according to the data updated at 8 am.

Meanwhile, active cases declined to 1,09,940, the lowest in 539 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 48 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 151 consecutive days.

The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.32 per cent of the total infections, which is the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.33 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

A decrease of 1,541 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the 24-hour period.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.79 per cent. It is less than two per cent for the last 52 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.90 per cent. According to the ministry, it has been below two per cent for the last 62 days.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,39,67,962, while the death rate was recorded at 1.35 per cent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 119.38 crore.
