India Reports A Spike Of 9,985 Cases And 279 Deaths In Last 24 hours

Mumbai: India, currently the sixth most affected country of the world is reporting a few less than 10 thousand COVID-19 cases on a daily basis. The past 24 hours saw a spike of 9,985 cases and 279 deaths.

The escalating figures have spurred the country’s toll to 2,76,583 including 1,33,632 active cases and 1,35,206 recoveries. The death toll has surged to 7,745.

Initially, Maharashtra has been an epicenter of Covid-19 infections. The number of active cases in the state is 44,860. While Delhi constitutes 18,543 active cases followed by Tamil Nadu with 16,282 as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the report of ICMR, the country has tested 50,61,332 samples, out of which 1,45,216 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.

Today is the 78th day of nationwide lockdown that was meant to curb the coronavirus pandemic. However, the government has lifted restrictions considerably at non containment zones as a part of Unlock 1.0.
