India Reports Biggest 1-Day Rise In COVID Cases In Over 7 Months With 1.94 Lakh Cases

Mumbai: India has reported 1,94,720 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a jump of 26,657 cases from yesterday. This is the biggest one day rise in cases in India after May 27, 2021, when the country reported 2,11,298 cases.

Active cases have risen to 9,55,319, the highest in 211 days, while the death toll has risen to 4,84,655 with 442 fresh deaths, data updated at 8 am.

Out of a total of 4,868 cases of Omicron type, 1,805 people have been cured or migrated so far.

Maharashtra recorded the highest number of 1,281 cases, followed by Rajasthan at 645, Delhi at 546, Karnataka at 479 and Kerala at 350.

Active cases comprise 2.65 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has come down to 96.01 per cent, the ministry said.

A total of 2,11,298 cases of coronavirus infection were reported in a single day on 26 May.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 1,33,873 cases in a span of 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 11.05 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 9.82 per cent.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,46,30,536, while the death rate was recorded at 1.34 per cent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign is more than 153.80 crore.
