India Reports Lowest COVID-19 Cases In Nearly 8 Months At 12,428; 356 Deaths

Mumbai: India has reported 12,428 COVID-19 cases and 356 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest rise in the number of daily cases in nearly eight months (238 days).

India’s active caseload stood at 1,63,816, the lowest in 241 days, while the daily positivity rate stood at 1.10%.

With the fresh cases, the total number rose to 3,42,02,202, while the death toll rose to 4,55,068 with 356 fresh deaths, as updated at 8 am.

Officials said that 228 people have died in Kerala in the last 24 hours, while 53 people have died in the state.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 31 straight days and there have been fewer than 50,000 daily new cases for 120 consecutive days.

The ministry said active cases comprise 0.49 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.18 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

A decrease of 3,879 cases has been recorded in the total active number of COVID-19 cases in the 24-hour period.

In addition, 11,31,826 tests were conducted on Monday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for the detection of COVID-19 in the country to 60,19,01,543.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.10 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.24 per cent.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,35,83,318, while the death rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 102.94 crores.
