India Reports Over 1.68 Lakh COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours, Highest So Far

Mumbai: Coronavirus cases in India have set a daily record high as pandemic outbreaks across the country have risen to 1,35,27,717 with 1,68,912 new infections due to an increase of COVID-19.

This is the sixth consecutive day that a single-day spike in coronavirus cases has crossed the 1 lakh mark in the country, the second wave of COVID-19.

According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, the number of deaths due to the disease has to1,70,179 with 904 more people succumbing to the disease on Monday. This is the highest number of deaths on a single day since 31 March.

Active cases breached the 12-lakh mark for the first time since the outbreak of the epidemic. The lowest active caseload was 1,35,926 on February 12 and the highest was 11,08,087 on Apr 11.

The total number of cured COVID-19 patients climbed to 1,21,56,529  with 75,086 people recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours.

As per ICMR, a total of 25,78,06,986 samples have been tested so far including 11,80,136 samples tested on Sunday.
