India Sees Rise In Daily COVID Cases With 6,317 New Infections; 213 Omicron Cases So Far

Mumbai: India has reported 6,317 COVID-19 cases and 318 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health. The active caseload stood at 78,190, the lowest in 575 days.

The country has reported 213 cases of Omicron variant so far, with Delhi reporting the most cases at 57, followed by Maharashtra at 54 and Telangana at 24 Karnataka 19, Rajasthan 18, Kerala 15 and Gujarat 14.

The death toll has climbed to 4,78,325 with 318 fresh fatalities, the data stated.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 15,000 for the past 55 days.

The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate further improved to 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered a decline of 907 cases in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.51 per cent. For the last 79 days, it is less than two per cent. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.58 per cent. According to the ministry, it has been below one per cent for the last 38 days.

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 3,42,01,966, while the death rate was recorded at 1.38 per cent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 138.96 crores.
