India Suspends The Weekly Thar Express

Mumbai: The Indian government on Friday suspended the Thar Express that links India to Pakistan. The Thar Express runs from Rajasthan to Karachi and is run on a weekly basis. According to the reports, the train’s scheduled journey on Friday will not take place.

According to the Northwestern Railway’s Chief Public relations officer Abhay Sharma the lines have been suspended till further orders. “Thar express rail services are being suspended till further orders by the railways.”

The Thar link expresses runs on the Indian side between Bhagat Ki Kothi railway station in jodhpur in Munabao. Almost 45 people from India had booked tickets to go to Pakistan. On August 9 the Railways minister had announced in Pakistan that the day’s train would be the last train to Jodhpur.

Pakistan had downgraded diplomatic ties with India. And the cancellation of the trains had come just after that. Along with the suspension of the railway routes, Pakistan had also banned Indian cultural television shows and advertisements from airing in their country.
