Mumbai: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has empowered the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to host the final of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022. This decision was taken in the AFC Women’s Football Committee.
In the letter to AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das, AFC General Secretary, Dato Windsor John wrote: “The committee empowered the All India Football Federation to host for the final of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022.”
AIFF President Praful Patel said in his message: “I need to thank the Asian Football Confederation for finding it suitable to host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2022. The tournament will galvanize the aspiring women players and bring in a holistic social revolution as far as women’s football in the country is concerned.”
Das mentioned: “The tournament will play a big role in advancing women’s football in India. The Women’s Asian Cup 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020 comes on the back and will help us sustain, and build Speed gained. “
Das said, “The development of women’s football is one of our priorities. I must thank the AFC for giving me the rights and urge all stakeholders to work together for the successful organization of the mega event.”
While India has been hosted to host the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup India from 1 February to March 2021, the AIFF had earlier successfully organized the FIFA Under-1 Cup World Cup India 2011A in 2019. Apart from this, India also hosted the AFC Under-16 Championship India 2016.
