India To Receive First Rafale Aircraft Next Month: Narendra PM Modi
Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India will receive its first Rafale Air Craft in next month.
During a joint interaction with French President Emmanuel Macron after his bilateral meeting, Modi said that we are happy that the first of 36 Rafale fighter jets will be handed over to India next month.
Macron said that it is a “big thing” for France that first aircraft will be given to India next month.
“The first aircraft will be getting (handed over) to India next month. It is a big thing for us,” said Macron.
The aircraft will start arriving in India from May next year.
Officials in India have said that Rafael is far more advanced than those working with the French Air Force and that is why the aircraft will continue to be used to train Indian pilots until May next year.
Although small batches of Indian pilots have already trained French Air Force aircraft, the Indian Air Force will train 24 pilots in three separate batches by May next year so that Indians can fly Rafale.
Defence industrial cooperation is a mainstay of the strategic partnership between India and France, a statement issued after the joint talks said. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the implementation of the agreements signed, particularly the delivery of Rafale fighter aircraft before this year.
