India Whitewash South Africa In A Test Series For The First Time In History

Mumbai: After a dominating performance by Indian players over South Africa in this series, India has registered their biggest win over South Africa. It took just 2 overs in morning to take remaining 2 wickets of SA and it was debutant Shahbaaz Nadeem who claimed remaining 2 wickets.

This is the first time India have registered a series whitewash against South Africa in Test cricket history. Further, India has now won six Test matches in a row on home soil.

The last time South Africa lost two or more consecutive Tests in a series by an innings margin was three against Australia at home in 1935/36.

Rohit Sharma laid the foundation after being 39/3, by making a terrific double hundred followed by a gritty century by Ajinkya Rahane. Shami and Umesh was the major pick from this test match as they were lethal. All in all, it was a clinical all-round performance by team India over the course of these four days.

Rohit Sharma was obviously the Man of the Match and Man of the Series with 529 runs in series including 2 centuries and 1 double century. He thanked the team management for giving him the opportunity to open the batting.

With 240 points in 5 Tests, India are way ahead of any other team in the ICC World Test Championship. New Zealand and Sri Lanka with 60 points each are ranked at number 2 and 3 respectively. Shows how dominant team India has been as a force, in the longest format.
