Mumbai: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in a video message, claimed that the Muslim community from across the world, ‘including India’ wished for the Pakistan cricket team’s victory against India last night in T20 World Cup.

Ahmed also said that for Pakistan, the T20 match against India ‘was the final of the World Cup’.

“Aaj hamara final tha (Our final was today). And the wishes of all the Muslims in the world, including Muslims from India were with the Pakistani team. Pakistan zindabad, Islam zindabad,” Ahmed said in the video message posted on his Twitter handle.

Another Pakistan Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain linked the victory to the Kashmir issue and alleged that Pakistan’s victory was celebrated in Kashmir. “The celebrations in Kashmir after the defeat of the cricket team in India should be enough to open the eyes of Modi & Co,” he said in a tweet.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to the country’s first World Cup victory in 1992 also extended his wishes to the Men in Green.

“Congratulations to the Pakistan Team & esp to Babar Azam who led from the front, as well as to the brilliant performances of Rizwan & Shaheen Afridi. The nation is proud of you all (sic),” Khan said in a tweet.

Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja also took to Twitter and said – “Alhamdulillah. It’s the first one, the most magnificent one but remember, (the) journey has just begun… such a proud moment for all Pakistanis and thank you, boys, for providing us this moment to cherish.”

Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) helped India post 151/7 in 20 overs. The pair led the recovery for the team after Pakistan reduced them to 36/3 in the powerplay.

Rizwan (79*) and Babar (68*) didn’t give any chance to India bowlers to come on top as the two batters dominated the proceedings and broke the jinx of losing streaks against India.
