Indian Premier League 2020 Postponed Indefinitely Due To Coronavirus: BCCI

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday confirmed that the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing coronovirus epidemic.

“IPL 2020 season has been postponed indefinitely,” sources within BCCI told ANI.

The IPL was scheduled to begin on March 29, but the tournament was postponed to 15 April due to a coronovirus epidemic. At the time of the BCCI’s announcement, the central government had also suspended all visas to India till 15 April as part of measures to prevent the outbreak.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India would remain in lockdown till May 3 to include COVID-19 cases. Earlier, the 21-day lockout announced by the PM last month ended on Tuesday.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases nationwide is 11,439, including 9,756 active cases. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, 1,305 patients have been cured so far and 377 people have died.
