Indian Railways Turns Coaches Into Isolation Wards For Coronavirus Patients

Mumbai: Indian Railways has converted some coaches of the train into separate wards for COVID-19 patients.

To construct the isolation cabin, the middle berth has been removed from one side of the coach, while all three berths have been removed from the front of the patient’s berth.

The news agency ANI reported that 10 railway coaches will be converted into isolation wards every week.

All ladders have also been removed to climb the berth. Bathrooms, corridor areas and other areas have also been modified to produce isolation coaches.

The government has stepped up its preparedness to fight the Kovid-19 outbreak. Private laboratories have been built to enhance testing capacity in the country.

Approval for diagnostic tools for coronavirus disease (Kovid-19) can now be made within seven to 10 days if the prerequisites are met, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO, the nation’s top drugs and diagnostics Operator) has stated.

The government has also directed states and union territories to create a dedicated facility for Kovid-19 positive cases. About 20 states have already started identifying hospitals that can be used to isolate and treat positive cases.

The government has also banned the export of ventilators and has also asked two PSUs to meet the demand for construction of 40,000 ventilator units in view of the outbreak of coronavirus. The number of coronavirus cases in the country increased to 873 in the country on Saturday.
