Indian Wrestler Bajrang Punia Wins His 2nd Consecutive Gold Medal At CWG

Mumbai: Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia on Friday bagged his second consecutive gold medal at CWG. The 28-year-old defeated Canada’s Lachlan McNeil in the final of the men’s freestyle 65 kg category at CWG 2022.

Punia was very impressive in the first round and did not allow his opponent to score. He finished with a 4–0 lead over McNeil at the end of the first period.

But McNeil came back with a strong effort and reduced the deficit by two points to 2-4.

Punia once again took the lead by getting two more points. Then Punia did not look back from there and went on to win the match 9-2.

Punia reached the final after defeating George Ram of England in the semi-finals. He defeated his English rival 10–0.

He reached the semi-finals of the men’s freestyle 65kg category after defeating Jean Guiliane Joris Bando of Mauritius in the quarterfinals.

Bajrang was at his very best in the match as he gained a 6-0 win by fall. The match lasted for just one minute.
