Indian Youth Congress Helds Protest Outside Nitin Gadkari Residence Over New Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act
Mumbai: Ever since the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 came into force from 1 September, there have been numerous reports of motorists paying heavy penalties for carrying documents such as driving licenses and vehicle-related papers.
Meanwhile, Indian Youth Congress held a protest outside the residence of Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, against the amended provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Under the new traffic rules, driving without a licence can lead to a fine of ₹5,000, if the vehicle permit is missing you can be charged up to ₹10,000 and driving without insurance is fined at ₹2,000.
Earlier, Union Minister of Road Transport&Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that “This isn’t a revenue income scheme, are you not worried about deaths of 1,50,000 people? If the state govts want to reduce this, is it not true that people neither recognise law nor have fear of it.”
