India’s COVID-19 Recovery Rate Has Come Down To 91.22%: Harsh Vardhan

Mumbai: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that India’s COVID-19 recovery has come down to 91.22% due to a dangerous spike in cases in the last few weeks.

Vardhan, speaking at the 24th meeting of the High-Level Group of Ministers on COVID -19, said that the increase in recent cases has reduced the rate of recovery in the last three months.

“Currently, 1,19,13,292 people in the country have fully recovered. Our recovery rate, which was once 96-97% in the last 2-3 months, has now come down to 91.22%,” he said.

Further, 149 districts have not seen a case of COVID-19 in the last 7 days, 8 districts have not seen a case in the last 14 days, 3 districts have not seen a case in the last 21 days and 63 districts Has not seen A matter in the last 28 days, the Health Minister added.

“Our mortality rate continues to decrease. Right now it stands at 1.28%. Currently, 0.46% of active acute patients are on ventilators, 2.31% are in ICUs and 4.51% are on oxygen-assisted beds… At the time of our last meeting we had 1,53,847 deaths in the whole country, and today we have 1,67,642 deaths. At that time it was 123 additional deaths, and today it is 780 additional deaths every day,” Vardhan informed.

He also said that till 9 am today, 9,43,34,262 doses of COVID-19 dose have been given to people in India.

“In the last 24 hours, we have given 36,91,511 doses. Last week, we gave 4.3 million doses a day, probably anywhere in the world,” he said.

India on Friday reported its worst single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, with a record 1,31,968 people in the past 24 hours with viral infections, pushing the country’s caseload to 1,30,60,542.

The death toll was pushed to 1,67,642 with 780 more fatalities in the past one day, the highest since October 18, the Union Health Ministry data said.
