India’s Daily COVID Cases Cross 30,000, Over 400 Deaths Reported In 24 Hours

Mumbai: After reporting less than 30,000 COVID-19 cases for four straight days, India saw 30,570 new COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Kerala accounted for nearly 58% of the new cases in the country as the state reported 17,681 cases and 208 deaths on Wednesday.

According to the data updated by the ministry at 8 am, the death toll due to the disease has risen to 4,43,928, with 431 daily deaths recorded. The ministry said the number of active cases has come down to 3,42,923, comprising 1.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.64 per cent.

The data showed that the active COVID-19 caseload decreased by 8,164 cases in a 24-hour period. In addition, 15,79,761 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the country on Wednesday, taking the total number of such tests so far to 54,77,01,729.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.94 per cent. It is down from three per cent for 17 days.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.93 per cent. According to the Ministry of Health, this figure has been below three per cent for 83 days.

The number of people cured of the disease has increased to 3,25,60,474, while the death rate has been recorded at 1.33 per cent.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has exceeded 76.57 crores, according to the ministry.
