Injury Rules Shikhar Dhawan Out Of T20I Series Against New Zealand

Mumbai: India’s opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury in the T20 series against New Zealand.

ESPN Cricinfo reported that Dhawan did not travel to Auckland with the team on Monday and the selectors have not announced his replacement.

In the third ODI on 19 January, during the fifth over of Australia’s innings, the opener dived and tried to keep the ball on the cover. However, Dhawan injured his left shoulder.

Dhawan did not come to bat in the match but India still managed to win the match by seven wickets and consequently won the three-match ODI series 2–1.

India is scheduled to play five T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests against New Zealand, starting from January 24.
