IPL 13: I Am Happy To Be Back And Perform With Bat Says Sunil Narine

Mumbai: Batting first against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, Kolkata Knight Riders lost some early wickets following which Sunil Narine came into bat and played a fabulous inning with Nitish Rana on the crease. Following their 100 plus run partnership KKR ultimately finished on 194/6.

Rana played brilliant innings of 81 off just 53 balls, it was Narine’s 64-ball 32 which brought Kolkata back into the game after the Delhi Capitals bowlers’ initial loss.

The 115-run partnership ensured that with a 160-ish total, KKR could reach 194 – the second-highest score at the venue in this edition of the IPL.

While Rana hit a quality 81 off just 53 balls, it was Narine’s 32-ball 64 that brought Kolkata right back into the game after the early damage from the Delhi Capitals bowlers.

With a 115-run partnership KKR registered 194 runs, the second-highest score at the venue in this edition of the IPL.

“It was a part of the plan, whatever the situation was. I back myself to play spin, but we have the pace, so hopefully, we take it to the field and get some early wickets. We were looking for 160, but 194 is a good total,” Narine said.

When asked about the wicket, the spinner said: “It is also a good batting track. I think there is little more than the seamers. We need to execute the wide yorker well.”

“It’s been a while, so I’m happy to be back,” he added.

Meanwhile, chasing the target Delhi Capitals lost their top-order batsman at an early stage, following which the pressure was built on the middle order and couldn’t score runs for their side which resulted in 59 runs defeat to DC.

For KKR Varun Chakravarthy then brought up his five-wicket haul and provided just 20 runs.

Brief Scores: Kolkata Knight Riders 194/6 (Nitish Rana 81, Sunil Narine 64, Anrich Nortje 2-27) defeat Delhi Capitals 135/9 (Shreyas Iyer 47, Rishabh Pant 27, Varun Chakravarthy 5-20).
