Mumbai: Countries biggest cricket festival Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to take place on April 2020. Meanwhile, the auction for the 2020 edition will take place in Kolkata on December 19, 2019.
Every year the auction used to hold in Bengaluru but this time the authorities have opted for a change.
ESPN Cricinfo reported that this year’s auction will be the last short before next year’s franchise and preparations to collect new squads by 2021.
The last major auction of the IPL took place in January 2018 and allowed the franchise to retain five players before forming a new squad.
All eight franchises were informed that the trading window will close on November 14 this year.
The franchise was originally allocated Rs 85 crore to prepare its squad for 2020. Each franchise will have an additional purse of Rs 3 crore in addition to the balance in their purse from the last auction.
The largest balance in Delhi capitals is – 8.2 crores, followed by Rajasthan Royals – 7.15 crores, Kolkata Knight Riders Rs 6.05 crores, Sunrisers Hyderabad 5.3 crores, Kings XI Punjab Rs 3.7 crores, Chennai Super Kings Rs 3.2 crores, Mumbai Super Kings 3.2 crores. 3.05 crores and Royal Challengers Bangalore Rs 1.8 crores.
