Mumbai: In a recent development, ISRO created history by successfully launching earth observation satellite RISAT-2B which will enhance the surveillance capabilities among others.
With the 25-hour countdown started on Tuesday, the agency’s trustworthy WorkHold Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C46) blasted the launch of Satish Dhawan Space Center at 5.30 am on its 48th mission, in which 615 Kg weighing. Satellite.
RISAT-2B (Radar Imaging Satellite-2B), which was meant for applications in areas like Monitoring, Agriculture, Forestry and Disaster Management Assistance, was released in class after 15 minutes of lifting.
“This is a very, very important mission for India. It is an excellent satellite with hi-fi earth observation (capabilities),” ISRO Chairman K Sivan has said earlier.
RISAT-2 is used by India to actively monitor activities in border camps by Pakistan so that militants can be used to circumvent infiltration bids.
RISAT-2B is equipped with a synthetic aperture radar, which can take photos of the earth during day and night and in the event of clouds.
ISRO launched Microwave Remote Sensing Satellite, Reset-1 from Sriharikota on April 26, 2012.
This was the 72nd launch vehicle mission from Sriharikota and 36th launch from the first launch pad was also marked.
