It Was Not A Loss But An Annihilation: Aakash On India’s Defeat vs Pak

Mumbai: Commentator Aakash Chopra has described India’s defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday as “an annihilation, a decimation”.

Team India went into last night’s match against the Babar Azam-led side with an impeccable 12-0 record against their neighbours in World Cup events. However, Pakistan ended India’s winning streak after beating the Virat Kohli-led side by 10 wickets. Also Read: We Prepared Well, Kept The History Out Of Our Minds: Babar On Win vs India

Reviewing the encounter in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra was fluttering in praise of Pakistan. He said, “Well, you [Pakistan] were playing a game, not history. Whoever plays the game, wins. The lesson we’ve learned over two consecutive nights is that you don’t know by your name but by your deeds.” Also Read: Pakistan Outplayed Us, They Gave Us Absolutely No Chances: Virat Kohli

The cricketer-turned-commentator said that England and Pakistan’s victories against West Indies and India respectively proved that past records do not define a competition.

Chopra elaborated, “West Indies came out winning five consecutive matches against England and England bowled them out for 55. India came here after winning five consecutive matches against Pakistan and Pakistan beat India by ten wickets.” Also Read: Pakistan Outplayed Us, They Gave Us Absolutely No Chances: Virat Kohli

Aakash Chopra highlighted that Team India has never been abused like this by any opposition. he saw:

“I mean the monkey is off the back completely now and in style. We have been handed a defeat in the first match itself and it is not a loss but an annihilation, a decimation because no team had handed us a 10-wicket defeat in T20Is but the neighbours have done that.”

Pakistan first restricted India to a score of 151/7 in their allotted 20 overs after inserting them into bat. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan then stitched together an unbroken 152-run partnership to take their team to an easy win.
