Jackky Bhagnani, 8 Others Accused Of Molestation By Former Model, FIR Registered In Mumbai
Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against actor-producer Jacky Bhagnani and eight other high-profile people from the film industry for rape and molestation. According to Mid-Day, the model turned lyricist has filed a complaint against an independent artist.
The report said that along with Jacky, founder of talent management agency KWAN Entertainment, Anirban Blah, photographer Colston Julian, and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, have also been named in the FIR.
The model had earlier said that the police was taking too long to register an FIR in the case and that she had also started receiving death threats from one of the accused in her complaint.
The daily reported that the woman first approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 10, Dr Maheshwar Reddy, on May 10, following which he directed her to go to the Andheri police station and asked an officer to record her statement. Her statement was recorded by the police after eight days, though the matter was referred to the Zone 9 DCP office in Bandra, considering most of the alleged sexual abuse in that area during 2012-2019.
The woman spoke to Mid-Day and expressed concern over the progress of the case. He was quoted as saying, “Why is the police delaying the arrest of the accused? I have submitted all the evidence against these accused.”
She further mentions that Colston Julian, who is an accused, appears to have fled the city or gone underground. “To conduct the Panchnama, a female police officer took me to places in Mumbai where I was sexually abused by these accused. Colston Julian seems to have gone underground because his Bandra home was closed and his car was not there when we visited.”
However, the police said that they are still in the process of confirming the reasons for the model. Inspector Sagar Nikam told the daily: “We have registered an FIR based on his complaint. We are in the process of collecting the evidence that the survivor claims to have. We are under investigation.”
The FIR was registered under Sections 376 (n) (commits rape repeatedly on the same woman) and 354 (molestation) of the IPC on May 26.
Meanwhile, Jackky, who’s the son of popular producer Vashu Bhagnani, is reportedly out of the country and is expected to come back around September. He or his family hasn’t spoken on the matter yet.
