Mumbai : A close source to Indianexpress said that Union Minister Arun Jaitley has undergone surgery at a hospital in New York on Tuesday. He has been advised at least two weeks rest by the doctors.
Arun left for treatment to the US on January 13, was he undergone with a various test which resulted soft tissue cancer sources said.
At the beginning of this month, he was named the BJP’s campaign head for the upcoming general elections. With one week left of the 2019-20 budget, the government gave additional charge of finance and corporate affairs departments to Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday.
The 66-year-old Jaitley had undergone a kidney transplant surgery on May 14, 2018, at AIIMS here and had not traveled abroad since then.
BY February 1 the Interim Budget will be out in Parliament, Jaitley is now a minister in the Narendra Modi government. Earlier on May 14, 2018, when Jaitley had performed a kidney surgery and was out of the finance ministry for nearly 100 days, Goyal was given additional charge of the Finance Ministry.
According to media reports, Jaitley was not present in the office from the beginning of April 2018. On August 23, 2018, Jaitley returned as the Finance Minister and in the next few months, he limited public interaction to remove any infection.
