Mumbai: The police said on Wednesday that an alleged notorious criminal was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and was jailed here.
He said, “Due to criminal activities, his inhibitory custody under PSA was recommended by the police and it was approved by the District Magistrate, Jammu.”
Accordingly, the PSA warrant against the offender was executed on Tuesday and later he was kept in jail here, he said.
PSA is an administrative law which in some cases allows for detention without charge or hearing for up to two years.
The official said that in the meantime, five people were detained in restrictive custody for allegedly involved in illegal activities in Rajouri district.
Three people were detained in Rajouri city while two others were detained from Naushra area.
They were lodged in district jail Rajouri, the official added.
